Racine Watch CO was founded in 1913 in La Chaux de Fonds by Swiss Artiste Racine. By spelling his surname backwards he later on came up with the name Enicar, a brand that now is associated with good quality, innovative design and above all, amazing sports watches.

Besides being the first watch company to use radium to get the hands and the numbers on the dial to glow in the dark, they are most famous for their watches with the family name Sherpa. The name Sherpa is a direct tribute to the strong and reliable carriers, who all wore Enicar Seapearl, on the “Swiss Himalayan expedition” on Mount Everest in 1956.

After the praised expedition, Enicar had some golden years while making plenty of iconic watches for diving, flying and military purposes. The company did good until quartz watches became popular, and like many other Swiss companies they got financial problems in the 1970’s which led to bankruptcy in 1988.

Collectors still hold many of the spectacular Enicar watches in high regard, and we have a couple of interesting ones for sale at this auction.
