Two highlights from the auction

Art Deco ring from Cartier

We are proud to present an auction with a wonderful collection of lots. One of the highlights from the auction is Lot 6, a unique Art Deco ring from the iconic jeweller Cartier. The ring is created in carved rock crystal and platinum embellished with diamonds.

The ring's first owner Barbara Hutton left behind an eventful life story among with a remarkable jewellery collection. Hutton lived most of her life in the centre of the American high society. As the granddaughter of the Woolworth founder, she inherited one of Americas largest fortunes.

The ring was given as a gift to Hutton’s physiotherapist Karin Gustafson on a trip to Egypt in 1935. Gustafson explained how she obtained the ring in a letter she wrote home to Sweden . Pictures of this letter can be found on the ring’s product page.

Sapphires from Kashmir

In the northern parts of India, among the Himalayan mountains lays the region Kashmir. Home to some of the world’s finest sapphires.

With a limited quantity, and a colour and quality that surpasses most, these sapphires are categorized as some of the rarest gemstones in the world.

Lot 11 on Important Jewellery includes two of these Kashmir Sapphires. The antique cushion cut sapphires weigh a total of 10,23 carat. With their deep but still bright blue colour, you quickly discover that these stones are something out of the ordinary.
